LordFlux join:2005-04-20 Warner Robins, GA | ZyXEL ZWUSG20 -- does UPnP support multiple XBox 360s? I have a friend who is currently running a DLink DIR-655 on his network. He needs to upgrade to a router that supports IPSec VPN, but he also needs to retain UPnP support that allows multiple XBox 360 systems to run on a single WAN IP address. I had a spare Netgear FVS318 that I put in place to test and one of the 360 systems always fell back to 'Strict NAT'.
Can anyone confirm if the ZyXEL ZWUSG20 properly supports running multiple XBox 360 systems (and they retain their 'Open NAT' status)? |

| A search for recent posts on this forum using UPnP as a keyword should result in opinions that are consistent with my memory of them -- that the Unified Security Gateway (USG) appliances' function of security is incompatible with having UPnP capability. You can, and I do on the USG50, forward particular message types to particular ports at particular IP addresses. This is relevant to Bit Torrent and may not be relevant to particular games. I would not do this for a commercial installation.
Somewhere in the 1000 page manual or 200 pages of support notes is a description of what to do to get certain types of games that need to open a port for a game server to work. I was unable to quickly find the description just now. As I don't have a need for it, I don't recall the details. However, it was somehow different from UPnP and I think not necessarily adaptable to some gamer needs.
Sorry that I can't be less vague.

 | Aha! Brano hit on the key word in the thread titled "USG 50 x" and triggered my memory. Investigate triggering.
