[username@dslr.net] DSLR-mail settings, not workin

Is this a good place to ask for help with DSLR mail please?
The dedicated forum is marked "idle forum" and has had few posts for a long time. Thanks!

I'm sorry for being unclear. ~
Bird DOES have a (somewhat) working dslr.net email.

However, since (I think) a recent change at the server end; I have some difficulty in sending messages.

I can receive them well enough.
I tested this function by sending a message to Ugly@dslr.net and then downloading it from that account with no trouble at all.

Thanks, Ugly

Try port 110, no ssl, APOP for the outgoing server.

I think this is the problem: Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2010 does not allow that APOP account type in Outlook 2010.

If you fill out the outgoing server, as well as the username/pw, does the 'more settings' button become active? It might be hiding there. APOP is authentication, not account type. Set to POP on that screen.

The APOP never appears. This is my error code.

What shows if you click more settings instead of test?

I think we're getting closer. In the advanced tab (image 4), see if apop is listed in the pulldown 'use the following type of encrypted connection'.

1 edit

Bringing in another consultant with another idea.
Also, try checking (on screen 2) that log in to incoming before sending is checked.

I'm thinking your problem is that you are using 110 for both your incoming and your outgoing. Change your outgoing to 26 and see if that works.

Bummer. That is the setting I use with my OE with no problem. Have your tried using 25 for the outgoing?

I am happy to use any, or no, encrypted connection, as you may wish to suggest.

I'm at a loss. I only have XP and OE here. Seeing if I can find someone else to help you out that is better at this than me.

My ISP is AT&T U-verse.

I do not know if the blocking of port 25 is a U-verse policy.
I will ask in U-verse.
