How about if you unchecked "This server requires any encrypted connection (SSL)" and set the outgoing one to none?

Here it is with those settings:

I think this does not apply, as it assumes one is sending a message from/via this server: outbound.att.net

I kinda thought that but just in case.

But what if you used their outgoing server for sending your dslr mail?

I tried this.
It does not work.
Gives some error the "from address not verified."
And a link to a Yahoo mail FAQ.
I am a customer of AT&T Uverse, NOT Yahell.!

If I think of anything else, I'll post back but I am at a loss what the problem is.

Yeah, I think I will take the matter up again tomorrow.
If anyone else has suffered a similar issue with dslr.net mail-sending; how can such threads be located please?
That would be a great approach, yes!
If this were found to be a problem previously solved; then a solution will be found there.

I set it up in Outlook 2007 got an error until I changed the smtp to 26 from the standard 25.

Both tests completed and I did send send an email using it.

not helpful or anything just interesting, all the tests were marked spam

Try 995 encrypted for incoming and 25 NOT encrypted for outgoing. That is the only thing that works for me on Outlook Express.

Well, thanks for the kind suggestion.
However, that did not work

I was able to set it up in Outlook 2010 again this morning -- I also use UVerse.

Try the setttings based on each screenshot.

That got it!
I have never used the "logon to incoming email server" option before.
How is that effective here please?
Again, thank you!

For whatever reason, the dslr server needed it that way. Maybe the server admin can explain why.

Glad it's working for you though.

My understanding is that if the incoming server isn't 'tickled', it logs you out of the mail server.

This is sometimes called popB4smtp (make a POP3 connection before SMTP). It was used a lot before the standard for SMTP authentication came into common use. And, yes, that's what I use on the rare times that send email via dslr.
