Dell SCSI (Perc + PowerVault) issue

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue. I have a powervault 220s with 14x scsi drives, all same make and model (Fujitsu).

For some reason the scsi IDs are messed up, like the drives are setting them. I can move the drive from one slot to another and it still keeps the same ID. I switched to another Hard drive type and no issue, moved it around an it keeps the Id of the slot it is in.

Anyone had this type I issue? Drives are LCD so no scsi ID selector pins.

Thanks

An LCD drive? Never heard of it. Most should have jumpers to set the ID but a lot of the 80-pin drives I've seen don't have them. Maybe it's a drive firmware issue? I've got a PV220s as well and any drive I stick in it follows the ID of the slot. Do keep in mind though that when in split bus or clustering mode, the last drive slot is offline as it's SCSI ID is taken up by the extra controller.

Oops, LVD SCA style. Must be drive firmware, but can't find it anywhere. It is weird because some of the drives are the same id, so all 14 drives show up as 6 total in split bus.

I have seen this before, the only thing I found that would fix it was a complete cycle of the pv and a firmware update to it.

Last time I had this issue I was running it in split bus with raid 5 6+6 and 2 spares. If Im not mistaken the server attached to it also had to be restarted after the firmware flash was completed for it to straighten out the proper id issue.

Thanks, I will give that a try.
