Before lunch I started some downloads and was getting 30-40MBit/s. When I came back home I noticed that I was getting less than 1MBit/s. I tried a speedtest.net and would only get between .8 to 1 MBit/s download but the upload was fine at around 1.8MBit/s. I noticed that my DS light on my SMC modem was green instead of blue which meant it was not bonding channels anymore.
Called tech support. The usual. Reboot modem. Factory reset modem. Push config. Connect directly to computer. Reboot computer. Run tests on computer. More tests on the computer done remotely. I wanted to scream "It's not the ------ computer!!!!!!!!!!"
They finally opened a ticket with engineering. My guess it's either my modem that's malfunctioning or there's something wrong at the head end.
Before putting the modem back to bridge mode I grabbed a screenshot of the signal screen. Other than it not using 2 channels is this OK? |

Thanks for your info!
I couldn't remember if mine locked onto more than 2 downstream channels way back. I knew it was at least 2.
My upstream never used more than 1 channel. Mine's using 64QAM modulation which can send more bits per symbol than the 16QAM yours is using. I'm guessing that's why I don't need a second channel for upstream. |

I have never seen anything that bad with Rogers going on 7 years now! I had 3 in the 60Mbps range: »/archive/roger···23&r=484 try this link that uses Java: »speedtest.sourcecable.ca/

 | reply to avernar On extreme, I usually get 15-20Mbps down, 1Mbps up; for the last two days (until mid-afternoon today, Saturday) I was getting 0.4Mbps (or less) up, 0.1Mbps (or less, or nothing -- I can type faster than that) up. Things seem to be back to "normal" now... -j |
