[General] Canceling Service SCAM!

Canceling service with Clear is a SCAM! I am calling 2 days prior to the end of my 2 year contract. They want to charge me $40 for each of my 2 services for an $80 early termination fee. But if I wait until the 1st day of my of my billing cycle they will charge me for a full month of service, which is non-refundable for $68. They get you coming and going. WOW! Reason for canceling is speeds are too inconsistant. Happy at first, then went down from there.

While I understand you wanting to cancel, calling it a scam seems a bit harsh when you got into a 2 year contract with an early termination fee.

They could be nice and let you out of it, but why would they if you said you'd stay on for 2 years?

I don't understand many of these cancellation messages and how Clear charges ETFs, etc.. I have Clear wireless and MUST keep it because there is nothing else in my area, in spite of my horrendous speeds. I've called Clear tech support, and they say there's nothing they can do for me to increase my performance and they offered to terminate my account, period. I kept it, of course, due to my statement above.
IMHO, if you have BAD connectivity and Clear can verify and attempt to fix, then fail, I can almost predict they will cancel you without an ETF.
(But I may be wrong....!)

Almost all services will charge you for your full month after the your billing cycle starts. Very few places pro-rate last month of service. Clear official policy is not to pro-rate. BUT, if you ask nicely, you might be able to get a partial refund on it. I was able to a couple years ago.

As for the ETF with Clear, with the hardware being so cheap, you could have bought it and not be under contract. That is what I did.

While I hate Clear with a passion, get over it. You should have waited the 2 days to be out of contract if it meant that much to you.

What CLEAR plan do you have? I will be willing to take over your account depending on the bundle you have and if will even offer you some change for your used modems... My email in ninoriff@gmail.com
