 | reply to shinjuru Well, finished my first playthrough of mechromancer, currently level 38, up to The Fridge on playthrough two.
I like her, but I don't.
Her left tree is filled with deathtrap power-ups and some very nice shield based skills. Middle tree contains a lot of elemental based abilities, primarily Lightning based.
Now, the right tree (Ordered Chaos) is... odd. So, you start off with a skill that increases gun damage whenever you reload during combat (only if you have an empty clip) or kill an enemy. But, like most skills in this right tree, it has a cost. The cost for this skill is accuracy. BIG cost in my opinion, but it can be combo'd up with other skills (such as Close Enough, where if a bullet misses a target, it can richochet off a wall and hit an enemy for reduced damage). This can stack 150 times, 1.7% Gun damage, -1.7% gun acc per stack (another skill increases max stack).
Honestly though, she was a letdown. Deathtrap is powerful early on, and is what I ended up specing in to for most of my first playthrough. But it's damage seems to be lacking now and I can't find any reliable skill setups which I actually enjoy using.
Overall, favourite class in Borderlands 2, for me, is still Gunzerker (mainly because of gun damage class mods and ammo based skills). Mechromancer isn't changing that. |

I think the idea was that she was supposed to be an "intro to FPS" type of character, or someone you could use to her abilities to complete some of the tougher challenges.
Might become more valuable during the DLC -- Support Bacteria -- It's the Only Culture Some People Have |

One you reach level 50 with her, the Ordered Chaos tree might prove to be very handy against Terra, etc. It seems designed for late game, solo play.
She seems to be a very shield-based character. She has multiple skills relating to shield restoration. I suppose if you have a Bee shield, she would be hard to beat (or at least a high capacticy shield). |

I did manage to get a decent orange class mod from a vendor, but no in game drops as of yet. I even solo'd the Warrior on 4 player difficulty settings and the loot was very crappy. -- »www.freakynorm.com |

I haven't played Borderlands 2 yet. I've just recently finished the 1st Borderlands, and I can tell you, Orange quality weapons on your first playthrough, are few and far between.
They're almost non existent. Soon as I started a 2nd playthrough, which is a lot more difficult, Orange weapons are popping up everywhere for me.
I'm not sure if this same model is true for BL2? Just thought I'd throw that out there. |

I think the only DLC that had some orange loot in the first game , on the first play through was General Knoxx. -- Support Bacteria -- It's the Only Culture Some People Have |

cyrus360Getting Freaky With ItPremium join:2003-02-16 Sedro Woolley, WA | reply to shinjuru Well the game crashed for me and when I restarted, it said my save was corrupt and deleted my character entirely.
Apparently when the game does this it also tells the Steam cloud to delete the save as well due to corruption so you are fucked.
I got my Zero to level 38 and into the 2nd playthru and this happened and now I have nothing. If anyone has a Zero around this level and can send me a save game file, let me know. Dunno if I will start over again.
So just a warning to backup the entire save game folder elsewhere to avoid this. It's all over their forums with no official responses of course. -- »www.freakynorm.com |

 | Oh wow, that sucks. D:
Will create backups every so often from now on. Thanks for the warning.
In reguards to orange drop rate. I haven't seen any real difference between playthroughs. Orange drops are mostly based around boss monsters. For example, Rapid Infinity (Vladof orange pistol with unlimited ammo + no reloading) is Dropped by Doc Mercy (though you can get it in the slots too). Basicly, you have to farm bosses for drops by quitting/continuing/killing boss or just get lucky on your first attempt as you progress through story. |

 | reply to shinjuru I'll be buying a season pass for this game tonight. I hope there will be a nice reward after the main story like in the General Knoxx and Claptrap Revolution BL1 DLC.
Got my second level 30 Confrence Call drop. So much worse than my first though. Only advantage is that it doesn't have an element, which means it will gain a damage and speed boost with Soldier (who I happen to be playing at the moment).
Has anyone summoned the Varkid boss? I'm having a lot of trouble with it. (I have the blood of terra, sitting at Varkid Ranch with a team of 4, but we can't get past ulti. Had about 10 ulti's spawn total) |
|
 | reply to shinjuru Finished the DLC, It was alright... meh storyline, interesting unique weapons though (storyline and sidequest weapons I mean, not the seraph items). A prime example is an assault rifle from a message in a bottle sidequest that has 200% melee damage. AMAZING for melee based Zer0. I'm considering raising another Zer0 just because of this gun.
The 2 new "invincible" bosses are great, they're a LOT harder than Terramorphous/Verminous. Still, Hyperius can be killed quick using Tediore reload spam, especially if you have a few gunzerkers in your team. Master Gee is hard, like, really, really, REALLY hard. I've killed him once after about 20 deaths over 3 trips. Each of the new bosses can be fought once per day, but you can just change your computer's clock to tick it over. Bosses drop seraph crystals which you can use in Oasis to by seraph items.
Speaking of which, the new seraph item class is terrible. The relic has a random amount of HP regen (averaging around 1%) and a HP boost (averaging around 20%). The shield can have a 0.00 second recharge delay. that's about it for cool stuff. Guns are bad, low accuracy without enough damage to offset it. There was even a sniper with accuracy in the 70s...
I spent about 2 hours farming Hyperius to get the 120 crystals needed for the weapons, 2 hours wasted. The relic is the only useful item in my opinion, which costs 50 crystals
Overall... Meh. Story was meh, Seraph items are terrible. Bosses are harder, but daily (why?).
Oh, I have all classes maxed now. yay. |
|
 | Meeps: thanks for that on Hyperius the Invincible. And on the seraph stuff.
I just beat the first boss Leviathan, and now going after Hyperius.
I think it is a decent DLC (since I have the season pass) and the music is amusing along with the characters and writing. ARR loader. Anchorman is a PITA. MineLayer is humorous. And others. Interesting weapons but the lead guy (reminds me of an annoying version of johnny depp's Fear And Loathing character) Still some funny parts...
One thing bothering me (aside from not getting a peek at Capt Scarlett's booty and chest ... pun. yes?) is that on one particular treasure map quest, there is nothing there! No x, no dig here, nothing. It tells me I am right over the spot... but nothing. Frustrating. -- Splat |

My kid drew me up as a Borderlands character for a birthday present. It came out pretty neat I think.
EDIT---Weird, it won't let me link the pic. Hmm guess it didn't like the original file name. Anyways, I think it looks cool.

 | reply to shinjuru So yup, finished all quests on my assassin. Going to post my build here because I think it's freakishly awesome.
I'm a huge fan of this Zer0 build, one of the best builds I have created for any character in this game. The build is based entirely around one gun, the orange flavored Vladof "Infinity" pistol dropped by Doc Mercy. It has an infinite clip and fires in an infinity symbol. Fire rate of around 10 and around 8k damage for the level 50 version. This is combined with the "Sheriff's Badge", a purple relic dropped by the Sheriff of Lynchwood. The relic gives a significant damage and fire rate boost for pistols (21%, 56% for the one I have) and a 15% boost to your Fight For Your Life time. The final part of the combo is Zer0's "0ne Sh0t 0ne Kill" skill, which deals extra damage for the first bullet in your clip (Infinity never uses up the first bullet, thus keeping 0S0K skill active). Oh, and a "Bee" shield, because it's so hax (if you play Borderlands and don't know what this is, look it up. seriously. look it up).
Sniping Tree -Headsh0t, for nice crit damage -Precicisi0n, for accuracy, allows for more hip fire and makes it easier to aim when you are downed -0ne Sh0t 0ne Kill, Cornerstone of this build, allows for 60% extra damage on every shot of Infinity, upped to 96% with my class mod (sniper based, +3 on 0S0k) -B0re, makes groups easier -Vel0city, for bullet speed boost, Pistol's only usual weakness. Damage and Crit damage is a bonus
Cunning Tree -Fast Hands, because the build isn't melee based. easy swap out to backup gun -Fearless, When Bee is down, you still a fire rate and damage boost. I think this works when downed (need to check sometime, probably won't though) -Ambush, For deception/Public play -Rising Sh0t, extra gun damage. yay Tw0 Fang, a chance for 2 bullets per shot. nothing wrong with that
All that combined gives me a Fire rate of about 15 (more once shield is down) that hits around 80k non crits when bee is up, around 30k when it isn't. Crits gives around 200k+. Very accurate, easy to get back up in FFYL. Pretty hax overall.
All that said. I'm pretty much done with this game. I've done pretty much everything now (including soloing Master Gee the Invincible, the harder of the two DLC bosses). I'll get back in to it once a new DLC pops up, until then... GW2 probably XD. |
