 | [SW Ontario] IP Change after 2 Years, My Speeds Have Dropped by Anyone else in Chatham-Kent area having this issue?
On the Turbo 14 Package
I used to get 14-15mbps no matter what time of the day. Now I am peaking out at 3-6mbps...
I noticed the speed drop when my IP changed back in December. Used to always be the same for the past 2 years.

 | Re: [SW Ontario] IP Change after 2 Years, My Speeds Have Dropped Time to call Cogeco Tech support... They could perhaps get you a new IP, or even a new modem if it comes to it...
best of luck! |

 | I never mentioned that the IP had something to do with it, but I do believe I something must of changed physically. Because I had the same IP for 2 years and never had issues, and always had speeds over what I was supposed to be getting. Since the IP swapped, I noticed my internet speeds cant get over 6mbps, and then our digital cable HD channels were all messed up as well. And no matter on the modem restart, router restart.. Still nothing is improving. Now the HD situation is fixed, however internet speeds are still horrible. |

 | I'm having the same problem as Bwareofmeh. I'm also on Turbo 14 and in mid December my speeds dropped from a consistent 10+Mbps at any time of day to ~1Mbps at best.

Coincidentally my IP address changed at the same time, after 3+ years of service.
Calls to Cogeco resulted in lines such as "Lots of kids are home for the holidays so the load is heavier", and "There's a known problem in your area, it will be fixed in two weeks".
I would like to know what's going on, and how this company can charge me for a service they're not even coming close to providing.
I should also mention that my next door neighbour is not having the same issue. I'm in Grimsby. |

They get away with it because the government lets them. No other reason.
If the regulatory set some standards for what that bogus "up to" meant, something reasonable like "if service is less than 85% of what is subscribed to the customer is entitled to pro-rated reductions in price accordingly" we wouldn't be having these problems. The company's only choices would be to fix it or lose money. Node splits would happen orders of magnitude faster.
The uptick of such a drastic reduction in service is you won't be able to blow through your pathetically low cap so quickly.

Mike -- No more UBB... nor more AVP... now it's "Capacity Based". Oh... wait... isn't that what we wanted? |

 | reply to Bwareofmeh The fact that you have seen a signal issue with your television can indicate that you have a signal issue with your internet. This could be the cause for the slow speeds. |
