2 edits | [Connectivity] Vicious packet loss, mainly upstream, for weeks. For the last few weeks I've been experiencing packet loss (mainly upstream), ranging from 2% up to 40% with jitter levels between 30-150 (measured at pingtest.net) especially between 7:30pm est and 3:00am est. At my absolute wit's end with this, I'd rather not go through the hassle of switching ISPs, but its the only option if this issue isn't resolved in the next few days.
All my vitals, both upstream and down, read good (29.1 upstream snr according to customer service). Using Moto SB6120. Only had Comcast at this residence since late October.
My best guess, with just my a+/network+ cert is it feels like the node I'm hooked into has some technical issues with upstream channels, and is just getting blasted into oblivion during peak times. |

 | Still occurring. More frequently now. Was gone for days and roared back this week with a vengeance.
packet loss (2-30%) and high jitter (50-250+), topped off finally with a wonderful T3 timeout which knocks all my applications/games off.
This might be the last day I put up with it, about time u-verse got a call. |

2 edits | I live in Pembroke Pines, and have been more often than not experiencing some packet loss and high jitter as well. It never used to be that way - I've been a Comcast internet subscriber for a year and a half, and these poor pingtest.net results have only occurred in the last 3 months or so. The signal levels on my modem are good, which leads me to believe it is an issue with Comcast's network somewhere. My packet loss has not exceeded 2%, but the jitter is sometimes around 40ms. I miss the good days when my results at pingtest.net were perfect.
Another symptom I've noticed is that sometimes the speedtest.net gauges go out of whack while it's trying to test my speed...didn't used to happen before... |

I wouldnt even bother contacting Comcast to let them know you are having an issue with the service. Im sure they are aware of the status of every single one of their millions of connections. They just dont care.
Or... you could call for a tech to look at the issue/area and see if there are similar reports, troubleshoot a bit. Even without a networking certification they just MIGHT be able to resolve the issue.
BIG shot in the dark though! -- CableTechs.org/"Horrible People with Integrity" |

 | I had jitter on my line when I had a sb6120, then I swapped for a zoom5341 and it dissapeard... not saying that it will fix your problems but it did for me. |

 | Could be Jiggly. Why would comcast do something odd like have an approved docsis3 modem not work when they said it would. The problem is I've had this modem since the summer, across two residences, and it JUST started early January. |
|
 | Now seeing
"ToD request sent- No Response received"
errors in modem log as well as
"DHCP FAILED - Request sent, No response"
"Unicast Maintenance Ranging attempted - No response - Retries exhausted"
"SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync"
in addition to the T3 and T4 timeouts. |

|
 | Beginning to just think its always around, just in varying degrees. Sometimes it just looks normal, but may be dropping 1-2% infrequently, and other times the connection is just completely crippled, generally at peak times. |
|
 | Just to let you know that I am having similar problems with uploads during the same time period. I am also in Miami. I think I replied to your other post on this forum. |

Result from my Windows PC (9am)

For some reason, my Windows PC generally gives better results than my Mac. |
|
 | Voipnpots, are you purposely choosing different severs for Mac and pc ? One is in Ft Myers the other is in Miami. Does it make a difference ? |
|
 | for some reason pingtest will randomly choose between miami and ft.myers for doing tests, even when you specify your preferred as miami. |
|
 | reply to CarlosJr Yeah, even if I choose the same server, the ping always seems higher on the Mac. Also, getting high jitter and packet loss in Pembroke Pines again during peak time 5pm. This area is really populated! |
