| Tree limb growing through communications lines Limb growing between telephone and cable lines out into the street |
Would anyone from AT&T or Comcast care about the limb growing out to the far left is going between their lines? The tree is mostly dead anyway, ComEd doesn't care because the only trim to within 10 feet of their own lines. |

| reply to lev I've had Asplundh at my house a few times for various reasons. Their approach seems to be, if there is vegetation too close to the high-voltage lines, they will prune periodically and any time upon request from tree's owner. They will also remove stuff that's rubbing on the secondaries strung between poles. But if it's just a branch between lines, they don't care.
On the other hand, if the tree's owner wanted to take it down completely, they would do any cutting necessary to clear all of the lines and any customer drops, but they would not remove the branches.
In my case I had a couple of pine trees growing under the lines, and it was clearly in their interest to have them gone, so they cut the trunks down below the lowest lines, cut off the branches and cut the trunks into 4-foot chunks. -- USNG: 16TDN2870 Find your USNG coordinates: USNGWeb |

| reply to lev Because there isn't a primary electric line running in that stretch, Asplundh has been avoiding trimming there for years. However, ComEd will be running a primary through there in the next few months, which means they'll likely be taking down the few parts of the tree that still produce leaves.
If ComEd can get Asplundh out there to do the work they avoided in November, when they were doing cyclical trimming in the area, and they'd be willing to take the limb down, then perhaps another contractor could remove the tree completely. Problem is, it's extremely difficult to coordinate anything through ComEd; much more so when an additional contractor is involved. |

 | reply to lev Who's property is it? I have one coming to my house with power from First Energy and my AT&T service. Both of them told me to hire a tree service and pay for it myself. Not really what I wanted to hear. |
|
 | reply to lev Dont worry, Ashplund will be by edvently to further butcher he crap out of that tree if ComEd commands them to. |

 | reply to MacThrasher File a PUCO complaint, that will change their tune (AT&T) for lack of maintence from FirstEnergy who AT&T is paying to maintain the right of way/poles they pay FirstEnergy to attach to. |

| A PUCO complaint won't go very far in Illinois. ComEd's position is that they have Asplundh trim within 10 feet of their own facilities. I've seen a rep state that several times. They publicly claim no responsibility for anyone else's lines on the poles.
That's kind of why I posted here to begin with. |

 | The PUCO recomendation was for someone else in this thread not you., thus the "In Reply to..." that was before my remarks |
