 | [SWTOR] IA operative spec So my friend in our guild was a IA medic. The problem is we have a ton of healers in the guild and hardly any dps. Are either concealment or lethality viable pve dps specs? If so, whats the best of these for pve? |

| reply to Fettuccine Concealment is the equivalent to Scrapper as a Scoundrel. It is not viable for PvE, it is a PvP spec, too much of its damage is burst (rather than sustained) and on a boss encounter you don't have the ability to use your opener (Shoot First for Scrappers cause I'm republic) and can only restealth with your Vanish once every two minutes assuming you're talented into it.
Lethality, I'll assume, is the equivalent to Dirty Fighting Republic side, and focuses on bleeds and damage over time components while still having the ability to apply burst when needed. It isn't an ideal PvE spec but it is the only viable for for Operatives / Scoundrels.
Medic / Sawbones is by far more valuable than their DPS tree, while Sages / Sorcerers can respec and still provide decent DPS (though their healing is far superior) and Mercenaries / Commandos do have viable DPS trees in their respective advance class. -- Lore Nerd. Operative is getting nerfed into the god down ground next patch. |

| Scrapper / Concealment is getting nerfed into the ground. Sawbones / Medic and Dirty Fighting / Lethality will remain unchanged.
The nerf effects Shoot First / Hidden Strike, Flechette Rounds / Acid Blade, and K.O. / Jarring Strike stun time.
If you're DPSing as a Scoundrel / Operative in PvE you're doing it as Dirty Fighting / Lethality anyway because Scrapper / Concealment has zero sustainability (which makes the armor penetration nerf even more mind boggling retarded) and a large chunk of their damage comes from Shoot First / Hidden Strike, which is only usable as a stealth opener, therefore completely worthless in PvE content as you can only stealth from combat via a two minute cool down.
However, if you are serious about DPSing at end game then this is true. Reroll Gunslinger / Sniper (though they're still rather lackluster) or go to a totally different class. Try Mercenary / Commando. Apparently being able to spam Tracer Missile / Grav Round is okay in Bioware's book. -- Lore Nerd. Role Player. Raid Leader. Healing Priest. Slightly Annoying. Espeically since the gunslinger priority rotation is a giant JOHN MADDEN cluster fuck with 10 billion abilities and a number of offensive cool downs on different timers along with the fact that if you screw up on your focus management your fucked.
But.. we do get all the ladies.... O.o |

 | reply to Fettuccine Ok sounds good . What about the sniper spec? The only other IA in the guild is markmanship however i thought the engineering tree looked interesting and fun. Any thoughts on these? |
|
 | reply to Fettuccine Ok long time gamer here.
I have a 49 sniper. It can be fun for pvp, at times it's frustrating too. I am Markmanship (Mark is the way to go for pve imo)specced. I will hit 50 tonight and try marks for a week and next week I may try Lethality. I've read some people having success with that spec in pvp. It's more mobile of the two but consumes more energy.
BTW as far as ops getting hit with the nerf bat, it was needed, I just hope they don't go overboard. Ops were litterally knocking people down and alot of the times their target was dead before they got up. I don't know if this was still happening in the 50 WZ's though. |
