- FM Absolutely, no question about it. But taking the writer above, who is legally paying (he says) 3x for the same content, but still can't get it. So he turns to the alternative. If he could get what he wanted, paying 1x , and you multiply that by all the people wo are obtaining that content through those alternative means, it would be a huge revenue boost.
Some have argued that $10/hr is better then no dollars an hour (being on strike). Sure, but instead of trying to take my money 3x (that's never going to happen) you get nothing, but if you gave me the ability to watch what I wanted, when I wanted, you'd get that 1x from me. -- No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake....... |

 | reply to FutureMon Piracy has very little to nothing to do in regards to quality. It's all about the cost and availability. Improving the quality as a means of combatting piracy is idiotic. Lowering the end-user costs is the easiest method to combat piracy. Unfortunately, because of human greed, whatever project is undertaken has to deal with cost overruns due to the fact too many pockets have to be stuffed along the way. |

I bought quite a few computer games from a local closeout store for $5 each. I've also bought several used games off eBay. Know how many games I've bought at full-price? Zero.
Care to guess how many $200+ programs like Photoshop I plan to buy? I'll give you a hint, it starts with a "Z". |

There is always going to be people who steal regardless but you don't penalize the people who pay, you should reward them instead of trying to push you to pay for a movie you watch maybe once and it sits on the shelf.
They need to stop being so damn greedy and be aggressive about embracing a new online market instead of locking down and tricking you into thinking you have choices.
Many people like me are tired of this bull shit I don't want to sit through 10 minutes of previews and FBI warnings for a movie and also pay 15-20 dollars for a new release, so I rent my movies Now the new game is to delay a movie for 28 days after its DVD/Blu Ray release which just makes more people pirate because its another game they play to suck more money out of your pocket. -- Team Discovery-Join the fight |

Fact is, there have been thieves since the beginning of time, and **most** companies build this into their profit model.
I think it's called shrinkage. Problem is, the only thing shrinking in the entertainment industry is the quality of what they're putting out
- FM -- Q: How many theoretical physicists specializing in general relativity does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two. One to hold the bulb and one to rotate the universe.

I sometimes have a hard time putting a dollar in redbox for what they send out of Hollywood -- Team Discovery-Join the fight |
