 | [BC] What should I before getting Telus? Hey guys, Shaw is currently dragging their feet with upgrading my area to get rid of this terrible latency in my gaming. I getting an average ping of about 250 and at times getting to 700 at peak times. Obviously not online gaming worthy. I've been told that it should be about a month until it's upgraded so I only need Telus for a month, but heck if it's a considerably better ping even when Shaw was working properly I might stick around. My question is what should I know before I call Telus? I don't want/need wireless. I just want the best ping i can get. Looking at the packages online, the High Speed Turbo 25 perks my interest seeing as it's just $5 more for twice the speed. Is there any actual difference between Optik Internet and the High Speed Internet? I'm in Kelowna, BC. |

|
 | Wasn't planning on it, only if it provides a considerable quality increase in the internet. I actually wouldn't use the Telus TV even if I was paying for it. |
|
 | Then get just High Speed Turbo 25. Having Optik TV does not improve anything at all in your Internet connection. |

 | Optik = flashy marketing. Check. Anything else? What I'm looking for is recommendations like for example with Shaw's wifi modems it's usually a good idea to just run them in bridge and use your own router for wifi. Are there different options for modems with Telus? Certain one i should look for? Seeing that I'm just planning on doing one month with Telus, how has people's cancellation experiences been? |

What makes you think Shaw will upgrade their network in a month anyways? Speaking from experience, I would take anything the front line CSRs tell you with a grain of salt. This applies to Shaw, Telus, and pretty much any other major ISP. The CSRs are not always "in tune" with what is actually happening in your area, and will sometimes make wild guesses as to when issues will be addressed. |
