A little advice from a Canadian. During the winter season, snow can accumulate unexpectedly fairly rapidly. In most cases the slippery conditions are due to flash freezing (ice) underneath or melting snow which is called slush, equally as slippery. -- All Your Bass Are Belong To Us. |

| reply to gugarci I like watching those snow-mo pileup vids. Lots of bumper car action and no serious injuries.

Slow and steady light on the brakes, gas and steering and you should be fine. And oh yeah if you see a pile of cars scattered up ahead, it might not be a good idea to go that way. -- "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix |

 | Best thing is to drive like there is an egg between your foot and the gas and break pedal. |

Anyone notice how the green Subaru in the first video was one of the few to be able to power out of the skid? Take a hint people. Have a winter beater car, and make it AWD or 4x4. Nuff said.
Edit: I live in California. Wouldnt catch me ever in these types of areas, but at least I have the common sense as to how I'd get around.
Edit #2: Seriously, LOL at the people driving around new cars in this type of weather. I wonder if they also have a trailer vacation home in tornado alley.

SmatchimoProfessional Genuine Image VerifierPremium join:2004-08-20 Walnut Creek, CA | reply to Jodokast96 Do you think so? I would think if it was prone to a flash freeze or ice roads in general, it would be a little more than a rare occurrence. But then again that did cross my mind. I dont know. I'm pretty sure if i lived anywhere besides here, I would have a winter beater.
Also, I think if it was that rare of an occurrence, roads would have been closed.

I cant imagine driving a bug in the snow let alone ice.... rear engine, front wheel drive and steering... sounds pretty comedic haha. -- By all means marry. Get a good wife, and you'll become happy. |
 | reply to Smatchimo I live in the south where this type of snow event comes about once every 10 to 15 years. Last year was one of them. In about an hour the roads went from wet to what is seen in some of these videos which is rare as well. If you had an hour commute you pretty much had to leave for home on the first snow flake. |

SmatchimoProfessional Genuine Image VerifierPremium join:2004-08-20 Walnut Creek, CA | reply to Jodokast96 Atlanta tends to freeze over, if i lived there I would be sticking to the same standards. Dallas probably not so much. Then again, during last years blizzard, many roads were closed and remained closed. -- By all means marry. Get a good wife, and you'll become happy.
