| | Copyright is not a Right Oral sex is a crime in many states, but the law is no longer applied. Society as a whole has decided that it is not worth the expense and effort to be concerned about something that is not really a problem, anyway.
If the entertainment industry continues in its ways, the same will happen to them. Society as a whole will decide that copyright is not really a good deal, ignore the law, and enforcement will become impossible. This happened with Prohibition, as noted by others.
There is nothing sacrosanct about copyright. Congress could reduce it to one day, once a general consensus takes hold. The industry is going to cause a backlash with their refusal to accept the new reality.

It does however say that it should be for "limited times" the Original version of Copyright law would work just fine today too. However its terms are too short for Corporations like Disney which fear Mickey going into public domain. In fact this is why Disney is always at the forefront of copyright extension laws. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports

However its terms are too short for Corporations like Disney which fear Mickey going into public domain. In fact this is why Disney is always at the forefront of copyright extension laws. Which is ironic because Dinsney made it's fortune by turning public domain material into Disney movies. If current copyright laws existed back in the early days of Disney most of Disney's early movies would never have been made.

No profit motive, no content.

No profit motive, no content. I don't think lowering the terms of copyright from 95 years down to say 25 years would hinder content creation.
