Ain't gonna happen. They would have done so by now, if they were gonna do it.

| reply to Daemon Note that Apple's cash holdings are growing faster than their market cap. Apple now has $97.7 billion in cash on hand, with a market cap of ~$400 billion.
If the market continues to contract their P/E ratio and the cash horde keeps growing and growing, at some point it makes sense for the company to take itself private again and keep all of the profits for itself. -- -Ryan I use Linux, OS X, iOS and Windows. Let the OS wars die. |

 | reply to Daemon I don't like reminding myself that I once talked with my wife about buying 10K shares of Apple stock at $10/share, I think it was when Scully was still running the place, or maybe right after Jobs took over. |

EIGHTEEN MILLION
Apple was my first purchase through etrade back in 1999. 15 shares @ $35 was all I could afford. |

I didn't miss a boat that big, but I do remember thinking I should invest in apple when those 'dancing silhouette' iPod ads started exploding on TV everywhere. That was ca. 2004 when apple was ca. $17 a share. Missed that boat, but do feel fortunate I bought my first shares 3 months before the iPhone was introduced to the world. -- -Ryan I use Linux, OS X, iOS and Windows. Let the OS wars die. |

I started buying into Apple in 2001 at $9.27, this was after Jobs returned. With one split between then and now, I currently have about $350K in the company. With a few shares over the last few years, I have diversified my portfolio and purchased both adjacent properties as investment income.

| reply to Daemon Should have bought Apple when I could have. Oh well. Was married at the time. Ironically, I had a friend that worked at RIM and back in 1997 or so he bugged me to buy shares, something like $7 at the time...they went up, obviously, and divided a couple times. Would have been rich. (as long as I sold a couple years ago)
These things are a tough call though, who knew that Jobs would bring Apple back from the grave? Hopefully Apple can find another evangelizer... -- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. - Albert Einstein |

No matter how hard everybody in the windows world (including the media) tried to discount apple there was a need out there for an alternate product to windows.
Apple has been getting bad press from all directions the last few years, slave labor etc.. I didn't know all windows laptops and desktops that vastly outnumber apple products were all manufactured in the USA??
Steve did one hell of a job but it's financially dangerous to rotate any large company around one person as none of us are invincible.
IMO, another "evangelizer" is what Apple does not need.. -- Jimmy Hoffas dad was the last shovel-ready job.. Will Rodgers never met Harry Reid..

I remember buying 100 shares at 10.80 each in 2001. It was not long before I had 200 after the split. Each time I feel like taking some profit I back off. |
