Such a thing as an incandescent LCD display PC monitor?

I know they make LED and CFL back lighting for LCD desktop monitors but do they also make such a thing as an incandescent back lighting for LCD desktop monitors???

Actually, most LCD's are a mercury bulb from what I've seen. Incandescent light simply has too much heat.

Actually that mercury bulb you refer to is a plain and simple fluorescent lamp.

Apart from the heat, incandescent light does not have the proper color temperature (too warm or not white enough) to get true whites on a display not to mention the larger amount of energy needed.

the same can be said for LED back-lit LCD screens

Not for the "consumer" market, but you might be able to find a manufacturer that makes custom displays who can provide them.

That's a question you'll have to direct either at someone who might want it or one of the manufacturers who offers it in their catalog. I don't see the point myself, but I'll [almost] stop short of saying it's silly.
