Laptop Dock issue Hey guys I am currently looking at getting a dell xps laptop which does not have the ability to dock like my current latitude does. Is there a universal dock out there that can handle dual video (I have two monitors)? I can't seem to find a way to get around the single video output in universal/generic docks. Thanks for any help!

reply to smerre01 Look for a "port replicator" if there is no docking station option. Some of those support running with an extra monitor plus the laptop screen (spanned or mirrored), but I've never seen one for dual external monitors. -- I love the Green Bay Packers. /facepalm

I have not deployed them yet so I can not say how well it works. |

reply to jester121 My dell e6500 port replicator does dual output but won't allow dual and the laptop screen. I run dual 24's without much issue with it. I'll get you a part number for it as its pretty much universal for all dell laptops we have in the business. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!"

a lot of companies are shying away from those vendors. My company was a full dell shop until we got bought, I had a ton of Dells that were rock solid, now we are lenovo and my help desk guys are replacing at least a laptop a day, the newer t's are heavy duty but are unreliable. Their heat sinks are failing left and right for us. Im at a 10 % fail rate , but tp be fair my dells had a 25 % battery fail rate for the first couple months on the new e6500's when we got em. Seems to be solved now. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!"
