| [Line Problem] DSL Packet Loss and High Ping I live in the suburbs of Atlanta and I have been experiencing packet loss and high ping on my connection for the past couple of weeks. This is preventing me from playing online games. Also, I am connected directly to the modem I have called in to customer support many times and the people don't even know what packet loss or ping is is. Can someone please help me?

One cause for highly increased latency and packet loss, especially time varying, is an oversubscribed ATM backhaul. |

| Well like I said, I have done test at other times and it is worse than that. Also 1% packet loss doesn't seem bad for just browsing but for gaming it is terrible. Does AT&T plan on fixing this "oversubscribed backhaul" anytime soon? |

Fort Lauderdale, FL | You'd have to complain about the problem as often as it takes for them to solve it. The Tier 1 support staff can't do anything about this, and many will have no clue about what you are talking about. They can escalate it upwards to those who can understand it and get the right people involved to solve it. |
