[Newsgroups] New Newzbin URL

From Mr.White

"Newzbin is leaving the American Internet. In a couple of weeks we will cease to use the newzbin.com domain and move to newzbin2.es.

We regret the need to do this but, thanks to the retards in the US Government and the MPA, a '.com' address is no longer viable. Really, any domain controlled by the US government proxy Verisign isn't viable.

For the next couple of weeks we are undertaking preparations for the move. We will switch shortly after that. For legal reasons the defunct 'newzbin.com' page will not do any redirects or give links to the new sites. If you wish you can start using the .es domain straight away.

As you may know we rent the domain name rather than own it. What the owners will do with it when we are gone is out of our control, but we will pay the rent for a few more months."

Already running the new domain.

While I don't agree with piracy, I can't agree with charging sites like this that just "point" to content. It is ultimately up to ME to decide if I wish to use/follow those links and download the content.

We don't charge phonebook companies for provide addresses of banks or pharmacies that have money and drugs inside... we don't charge gun makers for their guns used to kill or rob... why do we (gov't) think it's okay to charge sites that point to content?!

Just charge the downloaders/uploaders. Wait, that's too much effort... they just want the easy way out. Cripple everyone's rights just to punish a few.

Contributory infringement laws have been part of the IP statutes in this country for a very, very long time.

Thanks for the post - Just Googled it today and this was in the top few results. I had the search string for v3 bookmarked and was wondering why it was redirecting - thought maybe it was MafiaaFire.

It's not an autodirect, so it could be MafiaaFire.

Then go after Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and a host of other search engines. They are far worse.

Three words. Substantial non-infringing use.
