| [Rant] Wow AT&T Wireless..wow.. Hey guys, first time posting in this forum, just wanted to share my small useless story. Isn't a big deal to me but at the end of the day I still can't believe AT&T wireless would treat a customer like this.
Ive been a customer of AT&T wireless since 1996 back when they were Cingular wireless (or before they bought them out). I have two lines on a family share plan, one of them is mine that I use as a spare, and the other is used by my little cousin. Now, I only use around a hundred mins a month, but the cuz uses around 1300. We have a 1400 minute plan so it just about works out. Luckily, we have a feature called A List, that you can pick a few people and calls to those numbers are unlimited. So by using that feature my Cousin is barely making it to the limit of 1400 mins. Coincidentally, I'm not the one paying the bill, but just managing the account for us to use. Word comes down that the bill that is $110/mo which includes 200 SMS/mo is too expensive and that I should find a way to cut it down. I know that while cable companies, for example have ample competition and room to adjust prices, I also know that cell phone providers normally do not. I've dealt with a lot of them and never heard of a company giving a break for any reason. But I figure what the heck, I've been a 16 year customer (as it says in their computer) and they should be able to give me something. I call in and explain the situation about the high total bill cost, and our usage habits, and ask the guy on the phone to analyze our usage again on his side since the online usage site is friggin hard to sort out. He tells me that my cost for the plan I'm signed up for is 79.99...he tells me first that he can give me an unlimited plan for 60/mo per line. I said no because even though it's a better value, my purpose for calling in is to lower my bill a bit while keeping the same minutes, not to get a better value with a higher cost. Finally, he tells me he can give me an unlimited package for 69.99...10 bucks less a month. Hey, I was surprised I got THAT much, I'll take it...I made sure to ask him what my total bill was going to be, and if that includes my 5/mo texting plan. He says, I should pay right around 100/mo. Awesome. Two weeks later out of curiosity, I log into my account to see a $160 final bill waiting for auto payment. Upon checking the bill I see that he has signed me up for a 70/mo unlimited plan for my line, and a 60/unlimited plan for my cousins. Plus all the other charges and features. I call in to cancel and revert to my original plan, and guess what? No apologies for the mistake. No credit back for the two weeks of that unlimited plan and another surprise!....the A List feature that I had isn't offered anymore so she couldnt even put me back on it. So...I got the same price for even less minutes now. Wow. No matter what I said she wouldn't budge. I didn't and wouldn't ask for supervisors, I'd rather just cancel and go to another provider. I'm not upset Im just shocked that AT&T would treat such a longtime customer this way.
This rant forum is awesome. I feel so much better now
Cheers

 | reply to shawn744 sounds about right, oh yeah that 200/$5 txt plan doesnt exist any more either (if thats what you meant by 200sms), so id check that.
you must have data or some thing, im paying $110/mo for 4 lines with no data, two lines with the 200/$5txt and the other 2 is PPU for txt/data.
you could all ways send a letter to corporate, literally snail mail, but probably wont do you any good. |

| reply to NS4683 Nah I actually checked the bill and saw the breakdown of the cost of each line, and they're related taxes and costs. I ended up paying the proration the month after because of the previous month changes.
And as far as a letter to corporate, I'm sure they receive tons of those per day. I'd like to stick with a major cell company because at the end of the day I want really good service. AT&T or Verizon it doesn't really matter much. Though just for kicks I want to try boostmobile service to see how bad the coverage is. If its not too bad maybe I'll slowly migrate to them at 35/mo for unlimited. -- United We Stand - The world shall remember the events of September 11, 2001 |

The front line reps wouldn't have that power though, So a call or letter to the office of the CEO could get you your features back. |

| reply to shawn744 Hey just checked this out, seems really amazing. The coverage map beats any other prepaid or "budget" provider's. Really cheap service too, will definitely check this out, thanks! -- United We Stand - The world shall remember the events of September 11, 2001 |
