| [Rogers]Do you hate them? Just a quick poll question:
Poll Has Rogers pissed you off? |
|
Please explain.
I am madder than a mad dog with a nasty case of the scurvy and rabies. I am ready to chew someones leg off and give them whatever disease I have, if any. It's my money and Rogers is now trying to take it.
My cable/phone/internet contract is up this month, after 2 years of over charges. Whatever.
Cable: Will OTA work for me? How high does my antenna need to be? Phone:VoIP Internet:Tough call, might be stuck with these assholes. Cell Phone:Have two more years. Then hopefully RIM will have a decent BB and Wind will still be around. Mobile Internet:It's gone in 3 months, PM if you're interested in the rocket stick. -- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. - Albert Einstein |

| Rogers always makes me angry. This is generally due to their ridiculous prices.
That being said, I love them at the same time because I have rock solid service from them. My Internet is never down, slow or crappy. At least it hasn't been in over 2 years. I just moved, so you never know that could change.
I've had wireless (cell) services with them for 10 years now. I have never had any complaints about it ever. I've always had signal wherever I've gone and the quality of my service (calls, data) has always been top notch.
Now if we could just get them to piss off with their price increases and bring them down to a reasonable level....
Personally, I find Rogers the lesser of 2 evils (Rogers Vs. Bell). Bell has shoddy services on top of ridiculous pricing and for the short time I'd been with Bell my bill NEVER EVER came with correct information. I had to call them each time. -- Weeeeeee |

U can despise them but hate them is politically incorrect. |
|
 | I haven't had any problems with them (at least nothing that wasn't resolved with a quick call), but for the Internet prices I'd expect more bandwidth. So picking "I love them" would be a bit much. |

 | reply to MichelR Hate them? No. Love them? No.
I dislike their prices, but it's pretty much on par with other carriers, aside from the ones that don't have all the features and coverage, but that's what a higher price gets you. (for wireless, Internet is too high period. If I pay for up to a specific speed, I except the provider to do their best to get me that speed and not tell me what I can use it for. Nor do I pay for a certain amount of data, so don't cap me)
I wouldn't use their Internet service, because of the throttling and caps. I Up until a couple years ago, however, I was perfectly happy. Now I chose a reseller with the same service, except no caps and throttling (teksavvy).
I've never bought any cable tv services or home phone services so I have no comment on either. |

senderPremium join:2010-01-21 Ottawa | reply to J E F F Yes. I've been pissed off several times and each time it was because I lost all service due to a Rogers technician making some sort of change in their 'Rogers closet' for some other customer. It's happened at least 3 times now. The last time I called Rogers, the service tech arrived and couldn't figure out the problem. He left. After another week without service so I called again and he returned with his supervisor. They disappeared for about 2 minutes into their closet and suddenly my service was restored. Other than that my speeds are consistently good on the 10/95 Extreme plan. They deliver what they promise. |

 | reply to J E F F My Rogers services hasn't been down for about 10 years now and their retention department always gives me incentives to stay without me begging, so no I don't hate them. |

 | reply to J E F F It's their disingenuous method of denying any problems that a customer might have as being the fault of the customer rather than an issue with their network that gives me a red overlay to anything Rogers. I despise them with a passion: Lowering CAPS across the board just as Netflix was about to enter the Canadian market...
Coming back later and saying, "Look we're raising your allowance!" as if talking to a kid with no short term memory.
It's all good though. In a couple of months we'll be free of them once we gather the scratch to move to another net provider. |

LazManPremium join:2003-03-26 canada | reply to J E F F Don't hate 'em... Don't love them, either.... They are fine; no better, nor worse, then Bell would be to deal with.
Ported my phone # from Rogers to VoIP a few months ago (was originally a Bell # I ported to Rogers several years ago), but still have TV and internet with them...
Internet's solid, and speedy - I'd have to bond 3 DSL lines to get the same sort of speed I get off cable; and haven't experienced enough downtime or slowness to make a change worthwhile...
TV, every year I price it out, and my Roger's bills are within a couple of bucks a month of what Bell or Shaw/StarChoice would be. OTA's not a reasonable option where I'm at... |

| reply to Treegravy That's how it works. You lower the caps (lower the quality) then charge more and say "hey, we adjusted your caps higher!"
Netflix, btw, lowered their quality so that Canadians wouldn't go over their cap within hours.
I am free from them as of this month, so I guess I will need to call retentions or else I bail, have to make sure Teksavyy isn't overloaded here. -- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. - Albert Einstein |

| reply to J E F F The services they provide are generally fine but they are far from good value for money.
They do have serious lacking in fault tolerance for all their services so as a result our services go out a little too often even if only momentarily.
One of the things that most seriously annoys me though is the condescending behaviour and arrogance towards the customer. "Saving face for the company" is far more important than doing things right at the start. |
|
 | reply to J E F F You can hate rogers all you want for the condescending tech support, but don't think for a minute any other carrier is going to be different.
You may get lucky and speak to someone not as rude, but those people exist on all contracts and are few and far between. |

| reply to J E F F It's not the tech support so much that I found condescending ... it's the whole presentation of their business, right down to that horrible little jingle that accompanies radio and tv ads. Sure it's part of the "branding".
Back in 2002 "We're cutting your speed to 'improve your internet experience'" instead of what it really was "We don't know what the hell we're doing at managing our networks, so we're cutting your speed while we figure it out"
Then the latest "We're increasing prices because we've given you a richer internet experience" Yeah ... richer for Rogers.
Let's have truthful ethics. |

| You don't like Rogers much do you?
I did manage to get a discount on my "home phone" when I bitched about the inconsistent service, 20 years of bell with zero outages, 1 year Rogers and about 20 outages (although Magicjack was still up)...response "use your cell if you need to make an emergency call"...nice. What if I need to chat with someone for 5 hours? Pay phone? Thanks Rogers.
