Re: [Rogers]Do you hate them?

I don't like a lot of big companies when they get into this kind of situation. They know they're in a position of power over people and they work it for all it's worth ... whether it's potential clients, clients, other companies' clients, or their own workforce.

I dislike their prices, but it's pretty much on par with other carriers [snip]

What other carriers? Rogers and their blue counterpart have done a real number on us if we all actually start thinking like that. And then they have the audacity to advertise their prices as if they're doing us a favour.

Bell has a radio commercial running right now that makes me fume every time I hear it. It's something along the lines of:

Clueless Guy: "I've heard that if I have all my services with Bell, I save money."
Assbitch (Bell employee): "If you go with a Bell Bundle, that's true! In a bundle, our prices are the best on the market."
Clueless Guy: "Wow! I've got my lube right here! Sign me up!"

I've obviously tweaked that last one, but you get the picture. They're the ones setting the market prices and then pretending to compete with the other big guy in their commercials. It's so unethical.

Bell, telus and rogers have similar pricing, their own Canada wide network and plenty of phones to choose from.
Independent carriers do indeed have better prices, but not nearly as much coverage or selection.
Resellers are fairly similar to independent carriers with maybe a few more phones and better coverage, but they're getting up there in pricing.

So yes, looking at what you get for the price you pay, they're all pretty much on par.
Whether you agree with the pricing or not is irrelevant.

It's not irrelevant. It's my entire point

I'd rather not pay for anything, but that's just not going to happen.

While I cannot fault the one Rogers service that I do have generally speaking. Sure the cable box commits suicide every so often (its a rental) and some of their HD content is so compressed it may as well be bad SD, but ti works.

What ticks me off is the games that you have to pay to actually get a decent price out of them. They will gleefully fleece a long term customer and only when you can call their bluff about having alternatives, do they actually cave in

just wait another year or two. Rogers and Bell will announce that they've made so much money off of the people of Canada that they can't fit any more in their accounts and they'll be forced to offer service for free.

I can't wait!
