 | [TWC] Had extreme for months, now, its not available - Downgrade So in the fall, I signed up through the web for extreme 30/5.
The tech came out, gave me the new mode, we did speedtests, and a jolly time was had by all. Only caveat being that the modem was only syncing at ONE channel, so basically was running like a docsis 2 modem but it was provisioned for the speed I was paying for, so we were both fine with that.
I really didn't care so much about the 30 down, but going from 768 to 5 mb upload was killer, and enabled me to work from home 95 percent of the time. (It field) Not a problem at all.
Fast forward to last night, and while watching netflix at 1:20 am, I see my stream freeze and I notice the modem rebooting. Probably maintanence time I figure. I gave it time to do its thing and after a half hour went to sleep.
This morning the modem was sunc up, but I could not get online. Troubleshooting by removing my router (dlink 655) showed that it was working with a direct connect. Strange. So I log into the modem and notice that now 4 channels were sunc and bonded. (this is new)and make sure that NAPT was disabled (it was) and searched around online for a solution, and found a few other settings that were necessary (RG passthrough and added mac of my router to that). This allowed my peacefull home network to once again be happy. Mind you, all of a sudden this was necessary..
So after I work half the morning I realize my upload is CRAP. Do the rdc internal speed test only to see turbo like speeds. This is where you imagine me having the saddess face EVER.
I call, only to be told that I was downgraded and could not provide an explanation. I was sent to customer service to be put on hold a few times while he spoke to a manager. He cannot explain why I was downgraded, but only that the service doesn't exist in my area. (geneva ohio) I try to explain that I have been paying for, and getting this service that doesn't exist in my neighborhood according to them. They see the upgrade from the fall and a downgrade recently, with no explanation. They say they cannot (or will not) put be back to extreme as its not available.
Well, for something that wasn't available, I sure signed up for it and received it and had it for months. This really affects my work schedule as the upstream enabled me to travel less, but this pity party fell on deaf ears :-(
Not really trying to accomplish much from this post, just a story.

As DJ noted, I logged in online to pay my TW bill, and saw that extreme was now available to me lol....
So instead of ordering it online like last time, I called and verified this was NOT a mistake and since I had the modem already, seconds later and I was back to extreme.
