[Internet] Slow Internet - Brighthouse RR 20Mbps - Brandon,FL

Hi, new member here and I was hoping someone could check this out or advise. I'm not sure what information is needed so please advise.

Speed tests (speedtest.tampabay.rr.com and »speedtest.bhn.net) are returning about 10Mbps the past few days, and I have been having trouble streaming videos from Youtube and similar. This is from a wired network both behind and not behind a router. I've reset the old cable modem (battery pull as well) and my router of course.

Router: Asus RT-16N (stock and TomatoUSB tried)
Cable Modem (from 192.168.100.1): SA DPC2203
Modem software: dpc2203-P10-0-v202r1262-110525as.bin
Hardware Version 1.1
Receive Power Level 5.1 dBmV
Transmit Power Level 48.0 dBmV

Any other information I can provide as requested.

Thanks!

Your levels are fine and no pkt loss. Please post screenshots of your poor speed test examples to our local BHN speedtest.

Thanks for being so patient...

Will do once I get home from work this afternoon. I'll just update this post.

No problem, my issue isn't something I'd call even low priority. For what it's worth, things seemed better last night... I could at least stream some YouTube videos without hiccup (720p+).

I'll do a series of tests and take screenshots tonight.

Porkinds don't use Youtube as your benchmark for connection issues as they are horribly unreliable. I'll wait for those results and we can take it from there.

Attached screenshots. First two are from speedtest.bhn.net and then second two are from speedtest.tampabay.rr.com. The only time it hits normal speed is the last time, and it only went that high near the end of the test.

It seems to be all over the place really. The BHN.net one barely broke 10-13Mbps near the end of the tests.

Maybe this is just normal, I dunno, it just feels slower than usual to me lately. :-)

not normal

Out of curiosity (and sorry for butting in), but would it be normal to get half the speed results using the bhn.net site vs the rr.com sites?

Using speedtest.tampabay.rr.com or speedtest.tampabay.rr.com I can hit 20+ consistently.

Using speedtest.bhn.net I'm consistently getting ~11 - ~13 - but never the 20 that I would expect.

I agree that I prefer tampabay.rr.com, I just see the BHN listed as something to test against. Apparently it uses a server in Tampa, just one more hop away.

And it could just be that my side is working fine and just the result of slow internet outside of the tampabay.rr.com domain.

I just wanted to have this checked out because the past few days things felt slow and I've had problems with my cable modems crapping out after 2-3 years... they replace it with the current model and all is well for awhile.

But yeah, it could be that nothing is the problem on the Brighthouse side, and that's fine.

Please remove the router and rerun the tests direct connected to the modem.

I've done this already with similar tests as to what is attached (as stated in my first post). I'll run the tests again anyway. I'll have to use my laptop for this, and I'll reply back eventually.

Thanks for the follow up.
