[Thunderbird] Thunderbird 12 and beyond...
I just installed Tb 9.0.1 to play around with it and noticed there's an IM function (or, more accurately, lack of [till somewhere around Tb 12 or 13]). I've read where it is/was planned but haven't really kept up. While the IM itself is useful to some, that's not really what I'm interested in. I'm more interested in the presence and contact sync that having IM protocols can provide.
Anyone know something specific about what's going on with it? Thanks.

From the above-mentioned Thunderbird Wiki page:
To move forward quickly, the most practicable plan is to put Instantbird's code into a Thunderbird build, and then iterate to remove what can't be shipped (GPL'ed code) and improve the integration.

I'm confused, there are tons of programs out there for free for instant messaging already and other users don't need to be online to leave a message.

Thanks. Essentially, not much has changed since last I looked (except maybe having the time-frame extended some [unsurprising]).

Is there a question there?
