 | [Speed] Flagstaff - Fluctuating speeds and little to no upload s I have the 10M down and 756k up package. My down connection slows considerably around 4pm-10pm. Upload speeds are constantly next to nonexistent. Ping is off and on. My computer is hardwired to the back of my router, if necessary I could run these tests directly through the modem. I flagged down a suddenlink truck in the neighborhood recently to inquire as to why this was happening, he said I should upgrade to a docsis 3.0 modem (from 2.0), is there any truth to that? Thanks for looking.

 | Re: [Speed] Flagstaff - Fluctuating speeds and little to no uplo DOCSIS 3.0 may not be the fix, as those issues could be caused by so many other factors.
How often does your problems occur and maybe in what exact time-frame....like maybe during prime-time? |

 | reply to Callipygous Hello Callipygous, depending on what the problem is, a D3 modem may help. D3 modems bond to multiple downstreams so if you're using an older modem that doesn't support bonding, it may not have access to the full available bandwidth of the node.
If you send me your cable modem's MAC address or your public IP (easily found at »whatismyip.com ) I would be glad to look into the problem for you.
Also, please send me a traceroute to a destination you're seeing a problem with while you're experiencing the problem. |

 | Thank you for the replies. I will be sending you those addresses very soon.
Just an update, as the internet is extremely slow right now, to the point of causing login problems with my online homework website.

 | I'm in the same boat (poor download speeds) in Pflugerville, Tx. 10/1 package.

However, sometimes, using different speed tests, I can get full speed even though others only deliver 1 to 3Mbps down. I've been through 3 different modems, my own, a replacement, the dual phone/data modem, and now back to my own with a spliter so I run data on one modem and phone on the other). I've had the link between the corner box and my house replaced; I've had my inside cable line replaced. I don't think there is anything left at my house that can be blamed; it's something *upstream* from me and since I don't have any other ISPs to switch to I'm just stuck.
I just ran through the server list in the past 5 minutes on speakeasy.net/speedtest
