[Home Network] What DSL router does AT&T provide with gigabit Et

I'm a long time customer of AT&T for my DSL service. For at least the past five years, I've been using the 2Wire 2701HG-B DSL Modem / Router that they provided. Lately, I've turned off the wifi in favor of an Airport Express or two.

Now, I notice that the 100BASE-T Ethernet router is the limitation in my home network (when moving data locally). I could purchase a new router (or maybe just a switch). However, I was thinking that ATT&T must be offering something more modern / higher performance by now.

What do they offer? Is it good? Can I be upgraded?

Thanks.

ATT offers the Netgear 7550 and Pace 4111N, both have 802.11N wireless and 10/100 Ethernet ports, none offer Gig however..

You could get a plain modem like this Motorola DSL Modem Model 3360

Then add in a WiFi router or switches as needed that have the capabilities you want.

Definitely. Adding gigabit behind the modem is the better way to upgrade your LAN.

DSL modems will never be able to handle gigabit throughputs to the WAN. ... or Fast Ethernet. ... or really even 10Base-T.
