daveinpoway posted : "6120 = hunk o' junk!"- To be fair to Motorola, it should be noted that some folks (such as myself) have had relatively few problems with the SB6120. Some of the earlier firmware versions (the 1.0.2.x ones) had an issue where the speed test results to distant servers were low, but the current 1.0.5.1 firmware works quite well.

swintec posted : Motorola DOCSIS 3 modems, at least on the Time Warner network appear to be having problems when utilizing DOCSIS 3 standards. If you read the threads in that specific forum, most with these Moto modems are unable to saturate there upstream for any length of time or the modem will reboot for no reason (well, must be a reason). Other modems from different companies have no issues. So I think there really is an issue with these that need to be addressed by Motorola.
--
Usenet Block Accounts | Unlimited Accounts

therogue77 posted : I am aware that certain cable providers have had great success with the SB6120. Others have dragged their feet, but eventually, the modem does appear to work.

I bought this modem for my dad, (heck I'm using it) and now his cable company is saying quote:

"Motorola SURFboard SB6120 and SB6121
Motorola 6120 and 6121 will not work on our network due to recent firmware changes for that modem by Motorola. Until Motorola resolves the firmware problem, we will not allow the SB6120 or SB6121 to be added to our network. Do not buy this model. We do not rent this model modem. "

Source: »www.csicable.com/Int-UserGuide.php

This is another example of a cable company taking advantage of small folk. (for the record they listed the SB6120 as an approved modem before they listed it as a problematic modem).

Please feel free to send CSI a comment about the reality of the SB6120. It is a great modem. It makes me mad that they blame the modem and call my old man stupid. (hell they didn't even install the latest firmware).

Appreciate your time.

Andy
