1 edit | [CATV] Popping noises on PBS in Lehigh Valley For several years, I have been getting occasional popping noises on two PBS stations, WHYY in Philadelphia and WLVT in the Lehigh Valley. This only happens on maybe one show out of ten, but I never hear it on the commercial stations. I get it on both a TV set and a separate tuner off of a different splitter, so I don't think it is my equipment. My guess is either that it is a problem with the PBS shows themselves, or with the transcoding that the stations use to convert the videos to a lower bit rate for transmission.
I thought maybe RCN did something to the signal too, but I once heard it directly from an ATSC digital tuner connected to an antenna while receiving WLVT, so I don't think it is necessarily RCN. Normally I don't see any video problems, but a few days ago saw some digital artifacts at about the same time as the pops.
Does anyone have any other ideas where it comes from? |

kudos:10 | I've sent this up to the PA Engineers to see if there is anything we can do.. They can reach out to the provider if they see it as well.

Jason, what needs to be done to get PBS National HD Feed back on RCN? It was talked about a while ago, and nothing was ever done...are you guys still looking into that?
