People finally paying attention

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think the SOPA/PIPA incident was bigger than SOPA or PIPA. It got a lot of people to finally start paying attention to what these politicians are doing, and the politicians are slowly starting to realize that it's going to be harder to sneak these obnoxious bills through without many folks noticing. That's not to say they won't still try, and they'll probably succeed from time to time, but it's going to get harder.

I still believe that our political system is broken in more ways than we can count, and we haven't yet taken any real steps toward solutions, but more people are beginning to see what a rotten, stinking, festering mess we have, and they're beginning to push back. Unfortunately, many are still stuck in the mindset that this is a partisan issue and that, if only their preferred party could oust the louts on the other side of the aisle, solutions could be found. They haven't yet realized that both parties are rotten to the core and that the problem is structural, not ideological, but hopefully they'll figure this out in due course.

Sorry to rant, but I got started and couldn't stop.

Open a history book and read about Rome. That's where we're headed. Just think of China as the barbarians and plantation economics as their sword.

We're going down but it'll take a long time for the corruption to fully rot the structure to the point of collapse. During the future years, we'll become increasingly a two-class nation of super rich and dirt poor slaves. But we'll all have nice teeth, all the ED drugs we can stomach, passable medical care, subsidized housing, a smart device (tablet/phone functions) implanted in our head and a blazing fast wireless network everywhere.

It'll finally collapse when we discover the truth behind EYE Tech. (They were once Carrier IQ.) Eventually EYE Tech releases a device called the Zoe implant. The public will have an insatiable demand for the product which will kill the iPlant and cause Apple to file for bankruptcy. Once everyone has a Zoe implant, Steve Jobs will immaculately resurrect himself and be known as Eli. He will hack into the network and stream the last known copy of Orwell's 1984 into everyone's brain. The movie sound track will be missing but there will be Esparanto sub-titles. The overlords will fail to recognize the risk and allow the memory to remain. A revolution follows.

Man, you were tripping in that last paragraph. You must've broken out the good stuff in celebration of it being Friday.

No...I'm completely sober. After a bottle of cab I have more compassion and I'm a lot less critical/cynical. I gave up the other personality enhancements probably, oh, 25 years ago when school ended and I knew employers were sniffing around the golden shower.

I'm a beta tester for EYE TECH. Stop spreading lies and fear. You have no idea how much easier it makes my life. I can do so much more with so much less thought and time!

It's like all the computer, cell phone, wifi haters. Nothing is going to control you, you're going to control the technology. So stop fearing and living in the stone age. Technology is the future, and the faster we make it part of us, the better the world will be.

Sarif Industries is nothing next to EYE TECH when it comes to security. Nothing.

Now go back to patching your lame biotechs before I fry your temporal lobe.

With out this kind of technology Stephen Hawkins would have a much, much harder time communicating with the world around him.
