Request forHard Drive Reader advice

I have a 300 GB Ultra ATA hard drive from an old defunct computer. I would like to buy an external hard drive reader to transfer some of the files to my new computer.

Low price is a priority.

I don't need anything blazing fast, and after doing this once I probably won't be doing it again for a long time if ever.

Does anybody have any advice?

Get a simple USB adapter.

There are numerous other models available.

Another option is getting an external drive enclosure, then you could use it as a portable harddrive as well. An external drive enclosure will cost a few dollars more and will only work with IDE drives, not both IDE and SATA.

I have that, though mine the rubber cases are black and the SATA is red, but that setup will work. I got it to fix a neighbor's system and I've used it numerous times since, it's worth its weight in gold, easily.
