 | Recommendation for DSL Modem Without a Router Will be switching to CL DSL soon. Does anybody make a DSL Modem without a router? If so, any recommendations? I already have an Xtreme Duo 855 and having a second route just complicates things I think.
Thx,

Most of the DSL modems have a bridge mode, which disables the internal router functions. They include router functions in the modems to make it easier for the average user to get on-line. |

Check out the Model 5715 Zoom Bridge Modem here:
It might meet your needs. By the way some combination modem routers are less expensive. Check out the TP-Link and Actiontech family of modems.
Check out the Actiontec GT701 it is on the CenturyLink approved modem list that I have attached to this post. It is readily available at Amazon.com, Buy.com, Walmart and Newegg. |

 | I just bridged the 660 that Sprint/Embarq/Centurylink provided me when I started. |

| reply to pertman I bought a used zyxel 660 and it's much more stable than 2 other modems I've used. The 660 has never disconnected or missed a beat. Bought it cheap on Amazon.
Now if I could just find a modem with built in wireless that's as solid as the 660. |

Everyone has internet, no PC has to be left on all the time. It works the same as a modem/router combo. Instead of one unit, it is two separate pieces connected with a cable. |

 | reply to pertman Thanks all. I completely forgot about the PPoE on my Router. Just looked at it on the setup screen and there it was. So back to Amazon to order the T-Link 8616 DSL bridge.
Have a great weekend and thanks for the input!

 | reply to pertman Also, if anybody needs a new TP-Link 8616, they are on sale for $12.99 plus $6.45 shipping at Provantage.com
Their price is good until midnight tomorrow.
Significantly cheaper than Amazon or Newegg.

 | reply to pertman Hi All:
Well, my new CL DSL service is up and running using the CL-supplied Zyxel Q1000Z modem/router. As you can see from my previous post, I purchased a TP-LINK 8616 modem only. Unfortunately, in going through the config screens to make sure I have all the settings to transfer to the 8616 later today, I noticed that the Broadband Mode is VDSL2-8A. It appears that the TP-LINK is incompatible with the CL DSL since it only supports ADSL.
Am I correct? If so, any suggestions as to what to buy instead?
Thanks for all your help!
