cacheing SSD's and devies.

Is the caching drive really worth the price you pay for it? I mean would it be better just to buy a 120 GB ssd and install frequently used apps and games on the ssd and the rest on a HDD for that price? It does look like a viable option but not at the price listed.

The you have the Seagate Momentus XT

Are these drives really worth the cost.

I think you can use, whatever drive for whatever purpose you wish. SSDs or HDDs, or Hybrids can pretty much all be used the same way.

Which programs you want to open fast, or which programs are most frequently used, or both is how I would discriminate where they go.

I really don't think there are any hard rules for this.

That Momentus fills an important niche. Many laptops only have room for a single drive and a major trade-off with SSDs are their lower capacities. This drive claims to bring both worlds together.

If you have room for 2 drives, an SSD with more than 4GB of space (for OS and programs) plus a traditional "spinner" with huge capacity (for data) would give better performance.

However, what combination of individual 120GB SSD plus traditional HD can compete on price? The Momentus is "only" $150.
