| It's probably not your modem, but just old AT&T. My new U-Verse service drops out a dozen times a day. After less than a minute it reconnects and life goes on. |

The modem should not reboot if sync is lost but it should retrain. The two are different.
Check the WAN Status page (example shown above). Note that the "Session Time" (the time the modem has been up) and the "Retrain Time" are different (about 7 days apart in this example).
If your "Retrains" are non-zero and increase over time you're losing sync for some reason or another.
