Been watching quite a bit of this so far. What a battle between 1st and 2nd between the Fords. Interesting to see McNish and Allmendinger going at it. Two very different schools of racing on the track at once.
One other notable was Patrick Dempsey, but his car has been pretty off the pace.

Heartbreak for Ganassi and Pruett. Michael Shank - an incredible run. Heartbreak also for Sun Trust - unbelievable bad fortune for them.
Heartbreak for Sun Trust (out in the first hour with valve train issue) and Ganassi had first 2 gears die on their second to last pit stop. No #5 for Pruett to tie Hurley Heywood for most wins. AJ Allmendinger outlasted McNish to take the win in DP. Ryan Dalziel gave it a damn good run as well. The Ford engines down 50 hp and better mpg (probably thanks to those missing 50 hp) were the fastest cars out there. GT had 2 new cars - Audi R8 - clutch issues the entire run. They were running a basically stock clutch made to deal with traction control and Grand-Am does not allow TC. Ferrari also had a new 458 - finished 5th - not bad for a new car.

The cars have certainly gotten more reliable. It wasn't that long ago that the winning car would sometimes be 10+ laps in front of the #2 car. Congrats to Shank Racing and Magnus Racing for their wins in DP and GT.

Bloom County | Yea- most of the race they are running as if it is a sprint race - 2 seconds off pole the vast majority of the time. I think they also blew away the record for total laps...

1 edit | Forgot to mention Marco Andretti - he had to get into a car after testing his Indy car all day. Go to a track he had never driven on, in a car he had never seen or been in, and his first stint was at night...
