I have my CellPipe 7130 for internet only. Fibe 25. Connectivity/speed/latency - excellent! BUT...
Problem: From time to time this modem restarts without any visible reason. On that time all the lights are off unless Power (maybe even Power goes off, but i couldn't notice that so fast). On tray icon - "cable disconnected". Working periods are random, sometime this is about one week, sometime - less then an hour.
Everything else works good from that outlet (even previous modem), so power failure reason is minimal. All the more, buying UPS exclusively for modem would be really ridiculous. Thinking of defective modem, i ordered new one. Non the less, after two weeks of excellent functioning, this one started to show the same symptoms.
Does anyone know about that issue? Your suggestions, please? Thanks! |

 | I've found Cell Pipe 7130 to be somewhat heat sensitive.
Relocating it away from heat-generating electronics worked too. Also, I discovered that when my furnace starts up, the modem sometimes overheats. I relocated it away from vents. Much more stable. Using a separate WiFi router (and turning off WiFi on the cellpipe) also reduces the loading on the Cellpipe's router processor, and will also lower heat load. |

Does anyone know about that issue? Your suggestions, please? Thanks! I had a problem when I put the modem far away from the POTS splitter, connected by CAT5e. Despite having great stats, every so often it would shut off, and reboot.
I moved the modem next to the POTS splitter, and the reboots went away.
BTW, I think having a UPS specifically for the modem and router is a nice luxury. It's great being able to continue to surf the net on my laptop even if the power goes out. -- Everything Apple |

| reply to AVBHS Check the firmware version on the modem (in the web UI not the sticker on the bottom). There is a known issue with one particular version of the firmware.
See here for more details: »[DSL] Cellpipe random reboots / loss of sync (Check logs please?
Assuming you have the firmware in question then you have the problem and there is no official solution available at this point. Seems to reboot somewhere between about 5 minutes and 30 hours with no pattern that anyone has been able to pick up on.
Bell knows about the issue but doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot about it. |
