Re: USA HD PQ Examples Here's a thought, but I don't know why I would be the only one noticing it, but....
USA HD and SyFy HD (which are the two channels I see this particular problem on) would both be NBC Universal / Comcast stations. Something with the way Verizon is receiving/processing the signal at my VHO perhaps? |

tnsprin join:2003-07-23 Levittown, NY | reply to kes601 I am puzzled about how regular (rectangular) and grouped the interference you show in some of the examples. Almost like a mix of a picture with bars into your current program. Glad I have never seen anything like it. |

the Sun Outages that happen twice a year are not due to "sun Spots" it has to do with the spring and fall Equinox. Sun Spots during that time can make the effect worse.
Having had a BUD for many year we become acustome to such events.

there's a lot more info on it, just google it. "Sun Outages" |

kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA | reply to kes601 I want to clarify that it isn't like the picture is this way for the entire time during an hour long show. It will pop up for 3 or 4 seconds probably 4 or 5 times in an hour long show. |

kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA | reply to kes601 Tech has come and gone. Since I had already done all the typical troubleshooting he just replaced the ONT. Hopeful it fixes the issue, but not 100% confident it will. |

kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA 1 edit | reply to kes601 New ONT didn't fix the problem. Tells me either the problem is at CO, VHO, or I have magic eyes and am the only one that sees the random colors when it happens.... |

kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA | Ya, I had the odds at 1% fix and 99% not fixed. Not sure what to do at this point. If I didn't watch USA HD so much I wouldn't really care. |
|
 | Does the issues happen on any other channels? |
|
kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA | The random color splotches seem to only happen on USA HD and SyFy HD. |

 | Could be an issue at your Local VHO, that has to be done strictly at your hub , might be something they have to troubleshoot at their end. |

Which is essentially what I've been saying from the beginning. But if nobody else complains they aren't going to try to fix it. |
|
 | The sad truth is, unless you can get in touch with the district manager for your area or someone higher then that you are basically screwed as tech support wont do anything to fix a problem outside of your house. I spent several months when I first had FiOS installed trying to get them to replace a bad PON card that was taking out all of the local SD channels every night at exactly 8pm until exactly 5am. I went through 5-6 STB's and 2 ONT's and none of it helped. It was not until I got fed up and called a number that I had from back when my DSL went to shit due to squirrels eating the wires that the card was finally replaced and the problem fixed. |

 | reply to kes601 If you complain enough they will begin to look into it.
Try the FCC and your local public utilities commission. |

kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA | reply to kes601 The guys from the Direct Forum recorded Royal Pains last night on USA HD in my VHO, as did I. Once I watch it and see where any artifacts show up on the screen then I will send them the timecode and let them match it up and see if they see the same thing..... |

kes601 join:2007-04-14 Virginia Beach, VA | reply to kes601 Got a response from the Direct Forum at 11:33 last night (wow).
They saw the same issues with Royal Pains on USA HD last week as I did, so have confirmed it is a problem, but not at my location. |
