Burglary ring posing as Cablevision installers.

quote:
EAST PATCHOGUE - Police have arrested a group of men who they say are responsible for at least a half-dozen house break-ins in Suffolk County.

According to investigators, the leader of the burglary ring was 41-year-old Francisco Sanchez, who worked for Nationwide, a subcontractor hired by Cablevision to install its services.

Sanchez and his alleged accomplices were apprehended Friday, when detectives who happened to be in the Patchogue area received a call about a burglary on Haig Avenue. As officers pulled up, they observed a man coming out from the backyard and into the driveway. That is when police arrested 19-year-old Marvin Escobar.

Sanchez and two other men were arrested shortly after when police say they spotted a van circling the area.

Police say Sanchez would scope out a neighborhood and look for vacant homes that would be easier to burglarize.

I feel bad for the legit Nationwide contractors that don't get jobs from CV because of these people. I saw that CV isn't using them for jobs at the moment until this is sorted out, as per News 12. I had a nice guy from Nationwide do my install earlier this year (not on the list of arrested people, thankfully!) and hope he and others have some other work they can do until the investigation is complete.
