Internet in Skyscrapers
If someone were to rent office space (think Class A type space) how do they receive services like telephone, internet, TV. Are they a part of a large network within the building and required to use the buildings setup or do they just receive an end hook-up and then freedom to do anything they want with their network? Do they choose service providers or is that done by the building?
reply to lrusso For TV, I have seen cable only from one particular provider, cable and satellite options with a set of very large dishes on the roof to service the whole building, and satellite only from dishes mounted on the roof. There are variations on those schemes. Telephone and internet service varies widely. Some places you can get only one provider, in others you have several choices. Definitely something to get in written detail before you rent.
reply to lrusso It depends on the building's management. Some buildings have an "official" provider while some have multiple providers. In most every case the landlord is going to charge the carrier for access to the building.
