| DVR I really don't want one, but would consider purchasing something that would accept a cablecard (Time Warner) and allow me to tune HD/digital channels if I decide to switch from analog to digital service. I don't want anything that requires a monthly equipment fee or service fee. A plus would be if it could also play or record a DVD. Does such a unit exist? |

| You don't ask for much...
In a nutshell, no such unit exists...
That being said you do have options but you have to be willing to spend around $500 or so to get what you want.
First option that would give you everything you want would be to build an HTPC around a Centon tuner card »cetoncorp.com/products/
Next would be to find a lifetime subscribed Tivo-HD/series3 on E-bay »www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Tiv···70.l1313 Lifetime subscription are fully transferable to a new owner. You will have to transfer recordings from the Tivo to a PC then convert and burn them to DVD yourself. Software is available to do this.
There might be other options but these are the first two off teh top of my head. |

Or, sometime later this year, you should be able to buy the recently announced Ceton Integrated Entertainment System code named "Q". No word on pricing at this time.

robbinPremium,MVM join:2000-09-21 Leander, TX kudos:1 | Here TWC charges $2.50 for the cable card and then $1.00 per additional tuner, so for my 4 tuner Ceton card the charges total $5.50 per month. Much less than the TWC DVR and actually less than just a simple digital cable box. |
