[Signals] Acceptable Corrected & Uncorrectable Error Levels

Click for full size
Hello,

I noticed my corrected and uncorrectable errors are building on my modem status page. I reset the error counter and attached the results from the last 24 hours.
Is that considered acceptable or is a ticket in order?

History: In Oct/Nov, a CC tech replaced all my connectors and splitters, my aging drop was replaced (which helped immensely), and tech informed me maintenance would be checking the local plant.

Thanks!

Not a problem unless it starts to be a significant percentage of the octets. I've had much higher levels in the past.

Hmm I didn't think to write down the octet count when I started. Those #s don't reset to zero, just the error count.

Here are mine- never reset (though the modem is new a couple of weeks ago). Note that I'm not on Comcast.

I have similar results - I don't think it means much. If the signal levels are fine (which they are), I would say it's probably some minor issue along the way that does not have to do with your location specifically.

My correcteds are from 8000-20000 and my uncorrectables are from 100 to about 500 (for the 4 downstream channels).

The 6120 tends to have more than the Arris, for some reason- but still not an objectionable amount.

Here's mine, after about 5 days, 8 hours. I haven't noticed any problems here. It has been incrementing more quickly than during the fall, but since everything has been fine, I'm not worried about it.

The "SNR" which a cable modem displays is calculated from the number of correctable code words compared to the total number word received. If the "SNR" is OK, then your correctables and uncorrectables are fine also.

Same for upstream. The "SNR" that a tech can see is calculated the same way.

So are you saying you are having problems with your service? What is the deal here?

not a major problem, but your docsis channels should be closer together as far as levels go, but it not critical....
