Re: Why is cable TV costly? SPORTS! SPORTS! SPORTS! & Disney said by Romney2012:Takeaway from todays chart: Nothing has really changed youre still paying a lot for sports, and youre paying a lot for ESPN.
Thats why Disneys sports channel is the most valuable asset on your cable dial. And its also why youve been hearing increasing grumbling from both customers and ESPNs non-sports cable competitors about ESPNs drag on your cable bill. I really dig this news for two reasons.
• I'm an anti-ProSports snob. • I don't own a TV, so no cable bill.
It cheers me up that people (who aren't me) may realize they're negatively impacted by an industry that annoys me.
(elaboration: Pro-Sports are as meaningful to me - as stamp collecting is to most people.
Imagine you are surrounded by a monstrous national obsession with a multi-billion dollar philatelic industry. You are baffled at the amount of importance and resources people invest in it.
That's describes my relationship with professional sports.
However, I choose to not obsess and will usually shut up about it.)
