 | [TWC] Infrastructure deficient in Queens My service in Jamaica blows. TV locks up, loss of sound, loss of picture and since about november of 2011 internet drops multiple times daily. About to look for a new service. Most problems at high usage periods. Friends who live in the neighborhood report same. I'm paying for junk. |

| I'm in Rego Park - nervous about changing ISPs. Verizon's network is fine, but if you have problems, getting tech issues resolved is like pulling teeth. It took me 2 weeks to phone/chat tag to India before they finally opened a trouble ticket to fix. internet is also cheaper now from TWCable, or $30/mo vs $40/mo from Verizon. |

SRF26 join:2000-04-03 Jamaica, NY | reply to jamaicacable I live in 11432 and never experienced any ongoing problems with TWC TV or RR. There were a few outages in the 25+ years I had it, but nothing what the OP is experiencing. I have switched to FiOS, but it was more for the price reduction than QoS. I would probably still be a TWC subscriber if their prices were competitive.

| It is especially interesting since I was looking over old information today, with prices from 2008. The ATB triple has recently been reduced from $99 plus equipment to $89 plus equipment, similar to the promotions in that year. And less than the 2 year PLG's. Regular rate of hsd was $44.95 and has been raised to 49.99, but a new promo is drastically cut to $19.99.
The price of entertainment, news, sports, etc , even with a $150 monthly bill, is less than $5.00 a day. A McDonald's Happy meal probably costs more and is a lot less satisfying. |

4 edits | reply to jamaicacable does anyone now how to "use" dslreports to find out speed/ping test result for my area by ISP? there should be such data accumulated here, but I don't know how to collate it so I can compare member test results for my zip 11375 TWCable vs Verizon.
the best I could find so far was this; »www.netindex.com/download/4,1879···s/?tab=1 but they mix business and residential class services together, so it's useless since Verizon aDSL, T1, T3 and SDSL and TWCable broadband and wideband, that are all distinctly different products.
unfortunately the sister sight pingtest does not make any history available. |
