 | VNC and/or ssh port forwarding for OSX/Mac I have pf'd 5900 for VNC. But I couldn't connect from outside using my old standby Chicken of the VNC, which has worked fine in the past, pre FiOS. I checked the pf and it's good. I have Remote Login and Remote Management check in Sharing Prefs. I haven't set up ssh yet, I assume, once I get it right, they're both the same but 22 for ssh. What am I missing for the VNC set-up? |

 | I assume you mean "VNC viewers may control screen with password"? No. I just turned it on and Remote Management off. |

Have you tried again after turning it on?
How are you testing if it works? I'm not sure if the actiontec does loopback by default if you're trying from inside your LAN using the public IP address. -- University of Southern California - Fight On! |

 | K. That fixed it. I guess I never noticed that in 10.6 ......... Or something. Now to ssh. Anything different about it? Other than the port. Can I set up CVNC and router to use a different port of my choice for VNC? I understand that VNC may not be as secure as ssh. |

The Actiontec does have the ability to redirect ports. I don't have access to the interface right now, but basically you'd want to set the Remote port to whatever you want and the local port to the standard port (5900 or 22). -- University of Southern California - Fight On! |
