Actually, I think I've figured it out. On this page: »/prefs/forum , see what your Topics view default is set to. If it's set to nest, change it to flat and see if you can now see the (locked).

Though 'text' was the setting. Nested is broken too. Only 'flat' displays as expected.
Surely you're not all using the flat option(?). Also doubt Justin intended them to render differently. I'll keep the bug report up. |

038xx | True, and I do like that benefit but it's trumped by eyeball ease of following who replied to what.
Though maybe not now that I see Flat also doesn't bury the posts of longer branches (see image*). I hate that and made a site feedback thread about it somewhere long ago. Got rebuffed.
Ideal would be nested + nothing buried + posts new since last page load distinguished by high color contrast, a blinking red margin arrow, or some such.
