reply to Ottawa411 I had a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem I got from Canada Computers in a package deal "TekSavvy Express Cable Internet Starter Kit - DCM425 DOCSIS 2.0 Digital Cable Modem + One (1) Month Free Express Cable Internet Service (no contract)" Shortly afterwards I was told that my service would be improved if I bought a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I haven't had it long enough for a good comparison, but I used to get about 1.9 to 2.5 mb/s from Astraweb and when I tried it today I was getting 3.7 to 3.9mb/s. If it stays that way I will be very happy. Some people have had bad experiences dealing with Teksavvy, but I have only had positive experiences with the speed and courtesy of the service I have been given.
reply to Ottawa411 That's good to know - thanks for the update. I'm going to upgrade from my 5101 to a docsis 3 modem next fall. My speeds have been fair to good, depending on time of day, and I really don't download that much stuff.
With summer coming, I won't be spending much time on the computer or using my media player...
The sooner you switch to a docs 3 modem, the better ........ I was wondering who was chewing up all my bandwidth here in Greely. Have you considered DSL?
