The Divide Trailer

The Divide looks like it has a great cast and will be a blast (no pun intended) to watch.

I just might see if for Michael Biehn alone.

I don’t know what the release date was but moviefone has it listed as follows:

“Theatrical Release Date: 01/13/2012”

It must be a limited release though because I cant seem to find it anywhere near NYC.

Yup. IMDB confirms the release date and even gives out the boxoffice draw. If this movie is not available in the theaters it's still a surefire rental.

OK, I’ve seen this movie and I can honestly say it wasn’t what I expected, at least not entirely. In fact it was more then I expected. it’s the type of movie that jolts the viewer and takes them out of their comfort zone. I would liken it to “The Shawshank Redemption” (1994) and “Bad Boys” (1983). Both of which had some graphic violence and adult subject matter. In short not for children or the Squamish. While it is something of an unflinching look at human nature it also didn’t actually show as much as some might think. It implied things not shown, still to unsettling effect.

Generally speaking I think it’s a misunderstood movie and I’m glad a watched it. I may even see it again.

I can sort of see why this movie wasn’t widely available in theaters. It likely would have many viewers huddled in the corner rocking back and forth looking for their happy place. There is no happy ending here, no cheesy still shot of all the characters laughing like a circa 1980 episode of the “A Team” or "T.J Hooker”. This is hardcore stuff.

adding to my queue... is this as depressing as The Road? That movie was great but one of the few I recommend watching on warm sunny days with kids play outside and puppy dogs and kittens to hug.

I started watching this movie about 4 times now, and within minutes of it starting, something drags me away from the TV. I pretty much gave up on watching it.
I think I'll stay up late tonight and give it a shot, based on your description.

Well I can say that I liked the movie but I can't say how typical viewers will receive it. I don't think anyone will come away with a warm fuzzy feeling after viewing "The Divide" but then you're probably not supposed to.

If you watch a movie about the Holocaust, slavery, genocide against native Americans and the like, it will presumably have some effect and that effect is not one of joy or fulfilment.

I've read reviews of "The Divide" where they basically said this $#!t lived with them for days after watching the movie.

Well, I watched the whole thing last night, finally.
Good movie.
Unexpectedly dark, even considering the subject matter and what I've read about it. I loved the music in the movie, and the acting was good too. Some of the dialog was a bit odd, and I couldn't stand Delvin whenever he was on screen, he was just too annoying.

If I was Mickey, I would have tried to keep a tighter grip on the others and made sure they understood who the boss was.

Like The Road, I probably wouldn't watch The Divide a second time.

Right after watching “The Divide” I said the same thing, "I probably wouldn’t watch it again". However, its been a while since I’ve seen it. I’ve reconsidered and may watch it again tonight or maybe tomorrow with my Wife.

One thing I wished they would have explained a bit was who the the "white suits" were and what they were doing with the children they kidnapped, shaved, and put in the coolers. That would have taken something away from the plight of the survivors, but it was something I was wondering about.

Agreed.

In fact those "white suit" guys made me wonder WHO attacked in them. It didn't make sense that these white suited guys would be able to setup those tubes and stuff so quickly after a nuclear attack. Not without some MAJOR planning and support that no Human organization could possibly manage.
