Jim and his family are a scrappy bunch, aren't they ?

Not as scrappy as 20M/512k... that makes Shaw the only cableco I know of to offer less than 1Mbps upload at 15+Mbps download, which is really surprising considering that they are otherwise the most aggressive cableco in the country for download speeds and high caps.

Rogers recently announced a speed bump for their Express tier (12/0.5 Mbit/s) which is going up to 18 Mbit/s download speeds. They didn't mention anything about the upload speeds though, so it could stay at 0.5 Mbit/s for all we know. But yeah, it does suck considering this is Shaw we're talking about.

Will you even obtain full downstream speed when your upstream is severely capped like this?

I know videotron had issues at one point even delivering full 30-meg with an upstream cap of 1-meg.

So I have to ask myself, is this bullshit or not? Will people obatin the full speed?

I DID mean scrappy, as in spoiling for a competitive fight for the low-end users, not crappy as a company in general.

But you raised another important point.

Nice to see they added tiers for the poor and a higher tier for the working class.

It is going up, just not yet. They need to do a lot of hardware upgrades, etc to do it. I do believe they're aiming for a big chunk of the GTA by the end of the year... If you're elsewhere, you'll be out of luck for faster speeds for now.

That didnt last long

"In the circumstance, Commission staff will not process Shaw’s application, as it does not
follow the process and is incomplete. Accordingly, the file is considered closed. If Shaw
intends to re-file, the competitor service and destandardization tariff applications are to be
filed separately and according to the procedures outlined in Information Bulletin 2010-455."
