How many ntuser.dat files do you have and what is the default location. I have 9.

NTUSER.DAT is the per-user registry, so (duh) there is at least one per user. There isn't a "default location" - each one is where it needs to be.

That ERDNT thing seems to be something that makes backup copies.

Thanks. I am the only user of the machine. So 9 instances of the file is normal?

You're not the only user: you've got a user called UpdatusUser, whatever that is. Probably created by some program you installed.

("user" is not "human being"; user is "account defined on the system").

But anyway: there's a different NTUSER.DAT for each account, typically in C:\Users\USERNAME. There's a prototype in C:\Users\Default. The ones in ServiceProfiles are for each account used by services, and the systemprofile is (I suppose) for the system user.

The only 'not normal' ones are the ERDNT ones, and that looks like they're copies made by some backup program, not a program I've ever run.

Erdnt and erunt are Emergency Recovery Utility NT files. I'm going to assume that either Symantec Endpoint Protection or Malwarebytes Pro licensed Erunt and uses it. I've learned they can be deleted (and will probbly come back).

UpdateUser is created by the Lenovo System Update tool, probably for permissions reasons.

Thanks for the information.
